pen comps

Filed under: General — skalyanasundaram @ 3:48 pm
Hmm, Just got a forward from my friend about the feature computers.

Who knows may be after some year we may forgot this squre box which we are using currently.

Did u thought about computers going to be everywhere just ten years before. But see the changes now nothing can be done without computers. Latter everyone will have computers on their pockets.
It is difficult to identify they have pen or computer. Just need a flat surface for keyboard and for monitor too. This will be an amazing idea. This is more compact than the laptop, notepad, tablet..and whatever

Dont know who is doing this , but i am waiting delightfully to use this.

MS-DOG and Windoze

Filed under: General — skalyanasundaram @ 7:23 pm

I have seen a some funny thing on net. Just i was searching for dmalloc function for some clarrification. So i have reached it’s home page . ( http://dmalloc.com ). There i have seen these following lines….

The library is reasonably portable having been run successfully on at least the following operating systems: AIX, BSD/OS, DG/UX, Free/Net/OpenBSD, GNU/Hurd, HPUX, Irix, Linux, MS-DOG , NeXT, OSF, SCO, Solaris, SunOS, Ultrix, Unixware, Windoze , and even Unicos on a Cray T3E. It also provides support for the debugging of threaded programs.

And more over i have another doubt. what is the difference between GNU/Hurd and Linux. As for i know Richerd Stallmen want to develope a complete free Operation system. But even he said it is very difficult and will take more time and hard to debug that kernal code. So he was developing supporting utilities like Emacs,Gcc and many more. He called that project as GNU/HURD. At that time our Linus had written that kernel code and incorporated GPL licence for that. Then it was keep growing.

So how come this GNU/HURD and Linux will be different? or this is just the author of this site made for fun or it is something seriously different that i couldn’t understand the relation between the GNU/HURD and Linux 😦 (:-?

comments are always welcome

Collect your files

Filed under: General — skalyanasundaram @ 7:01 pm

Hey, have you got a work of collecting all pdf files (whatever..) from the entire disk at any time?..
If then what u have done? . may i know that… there is a brillient solution(obviously in linux only)
Linux fundoos do not scold me for these kind of basic commands.
Here i want to say the power of linux and the hands on techniques to the poor windows users..

just type
bash # mkdir backup
bash # find / -name “*.pdf” -exec cp {} .\backup \;

do i need to explain this? anyway

find – command to search
/ – start from “/” directory (“.” for current directory)
-name -specifies what are u going to search

do man find for more .. I dont want to reproduce the man page here.

and the output will be the absolute path of the files. That will passed to next command.
exec – u may understand that this to invoke or launch other programs
so a cp command executed ( u can invoke whatever the command u want)

{} – taks the input from the find command..
so p {} .\backup will be interpreted as cp /opt/firefox/doc.pdf .\backup ..
so whenever there is a file found there is a copy command is issued
This is how u can do it…
Now the windows usrs tell me what u have done..?? 🙂
